Evaluation
Prior to beginning any treatment, Harriet will schedule an appointment for an initial patient evaluation. This appointment lasts approximately 60 minutes and includes:
- A comprehensive review of the patient’s medical and pain history.
- An assessment of the nature of the patient's pain, distinguishing between myofascial, neurogenic, arthrogenic and viscerogenic pain, and determining any intersection among them.
- A complete musculoskeletal assessment, measuring the effect of soft tissue and joint restrictions on the patient's strength, range of motion, posture, subjective pain and overall function.
- An assessment of breathing mechanics and posture.
- A review of the patient’s ergonomics at work and home (preferably to include photo(s) provided by the patient).
- Identification of personal triggers that initiate and perpetuate the myofascial pain cycle.
After the initial evaluation, Harriet will create a treatment plan of care, which will be reviewed with each patient prior to scheduling additional appointments.
Future treatment sessions will vary in frequency and duration based on individual needs, but they typically last between 30 and 60 minutes.
