Harriet Levin, MSPT
About Harriet
Harriet Levin, MSPT, has more than 19 years of experience as a practicing physical therapist in the Philadelphia area.
After earning a masters degree in physical therapy (MSPT) from Ithaca College in 1997, Harriet served as a physical therapist for eight (8) years at Moss Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. At Moss, Harriet rotated between the in- and outpatient settings, treating patients with conditions ranging from tendonitis, rotator cuff tears, fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis to stroke, traumatic injuries and various nervous system diagnoses. She also lectured on and specialized in the treatment of TMJ disorders.
It was after sustaining a neck injury, and going through a personal bout with chronic pain, that Harriet shifted her focus to manual therapy and a wellness approach to care. At the time of her injury, Harriet’s physical therapy experience consisted largely of strengthening and range of motion exercises to be completed in the clinic and at home. Harriet felt this approach was aggravating her symptoms and increasing her pain. Deciding to educate herself on a different approach to treatment, Harriet enrolled in and completed a variety of manual therapy continuing education courses and began treating patients at Moss Rehab using these techniques.
In 2003, Harriet opened her manual physical therapy private practice in Fort Washington, PA to provide patients with the personalized, one-on-one treatment sessions she felt were necessary to achieve optimal recovery and overall wellness.
In addition to her private practice, Harriet is actively involved in the community. She has served as an advisor or lecturer to organizations including the Northeast Chapter of the Fibromyalgia Support Group; Fox Chase Cancer Center; Eastern Dental Society; Ambler YMCA; Twining Valley Golf Club; Curves of Conshohocken and Plymouth Meeting; and Manor College. She is also a former competitive tennis player and runner who continues to engage in recreational sports and outdoor activities with her husband, two children and family dog.
